Medusa’s legacy in the depths
Coral born from blood
In Greek Mythology, coral was said to be created from the blood of Medusa’s head, severed by Perseus, as it was scattered in the sea. Forged from the blood of a gorgon, coral was then said to protect and ward against evil. This belief spread to Rome, where coral was adorned as jewellery to protect the wearer.
